The Ascend Learning Healthcare Segment leads the way in innovation and solution creation to improve outcomes and deliver results for students, educators, and healthcare workers in the ever-changing field of healthcare. We offer advanced resources that drive nursing success, empower front-line certified allied health workers, help physicians pass boards and stay current, and provide education management tools for medical education programs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an AI Scientist you will join our Innovative Learning Sciences team, serving a leading role in applying AI to streamline internal processes and support the development of education products. This position reports directly to the unit’s vice president.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK

This position will work remote in the United States.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

• Making advances in NLP, CV and deep learning to build advanced dynamic models of workforce learning and assessment.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, learning designers, psychometricians, efficacy research scientists, software engineers, and data analysts
• Capitalizing on advances in AI and ML to develop high-value products and refine internal processes, including automated educational content generation, classification of content against deep taxonomic representation, among others.
• Applying CV advances to education and learning data
• Conducting research and development using multi-sensory data
• Making scholarly contributions through research publications, and providing technical documentation of data-science projects

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Mathematics or related areas required.
• 5 years of hands-on AI/ML experience in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Mathematics or related areas required.
• Experience and familiarity of education technology is a plus, but not necessary.
• A strong knowledge of NLP and/or computer vision with experience in deep learning (Transformers, RNNs, LSTM, CNN etc.)
• Experience with Transformer models such as GPT series, BERT, USE etc.
• Experience with LLMs and prompt engineering is a plus.
• Strong programming skills in Python and or R, Java, C, C
• Strong grasp of object-oriented programming (e.g. SOLID Principles)
• Experience using cloud computing for machine learning and deep-learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras
• Experience in source management, code reviews, unit testing, and related modern software development methodologies
• Publication record in NLP, Machine Learning, Computer Vision or related areas preferred
• Hands-on skills in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating, analyzing, visualizing and modeling of real data
• A passion for making sense of user behavior, using any available methods
• Agile and innovative mindset
• Ability to take initiative
